Producing Rural Entrepreneurs, by Yank Elliott, MBA & IAHBE Writer—Traditional rural business, so long dependent on natural resources like farming, timber, and mining, is declining in many areas. In some cases the resource is depleted; in others operations have been consolidated eliminating many jobs, and still other jobs have been sent to other countries with less restrictive work regulations and much cheaper labor costs. The decline has brought down associated manufacturing and services as well. This sounds like bad news, and it can be, but the aftermath of this dislocation often leaves a great many possibilities for entrepreneurs...
